What comes out of a Kentucky paycheck

- Social Security 6.2% up to the annual wage base, after which it stops entirely.

- Kentucky State Income Tax Fell from 4% to 3.5% on 1 January 2026. The standard deduction is NOT doubled for joint filers. Local income taxes averaging about 0.93% of AGI are excluded and are among the highest in the country.
Local taxes are not included. City and county income taxes sit below the state level and are excluded here. They are material in a few places, averaging roughly 1.6% of AGI across New York, 1.2% in Ohio and 1% in Pennsylvania.
