What comes out of a Ohio paycheck
- Federal income tax Seven brackets from 10% to 37%, after the federal standard deduction.
- Social Security 6.2% up to the annual wage base, after which it stops entirely.

- Ohio Personal Exemption
- Ohio State Income Tax Moved to a single rate on 1 January 2026 under HB96. Local income taxes averaging about 1.2% of AGI are excluded and are significant in Ohio. Exemptions are now limited to taxpayers with MAGI of 500,000 or less.
Local taxes are not included. City and county income taxes sit below the state level and are excluded here. They are material in a few places, averaging roughly 1.6% of AGI across New York, 1.2% in Ohio and 1% in Pennsylvania.
