How United Arab Emirates taxes a salary

  1. Personal Income Tax The UAE levies no personal income tax on salaries, bonuses or allowances. Corporate tax at 9% above AED 375,000 has applied since June 2023 but explicitly does not reach employment income.
  2. Social Security Expatriates pay no social security. GPSSA covers UAE and GCC nationals only, at 5% employee, or 11% for those who joined after October 2023 earning AED 20,000 or more. Expatriates receive end-of-service gratuity instead, which is employer-funded and not deducted from pay.
